Creating a post with scientific/mathematic symbols!

“How do you create mathematical or scientific symbols in a WordPress blog?” you ask.

It is perhaps simpler than you thought!

If you are familiar with (or want to learn) \LaTeX, then you can do this easily.

I have used \LaTeX to write many entries on this blog and am still learning how to use it. It can be fun AND empowering to express your ideas the way you want to!

\LaTeX is a computer code. To enter it, you need to go to the “Text” tab of your “New Post” and write the \LaTeX code between two dollar signs and the short code “latex” like this:

“$latex $”

If you want more examples, here, is a good place to start with \LaTeX. You can use this to find functions that you might need such as “\frac” to write fractions in the form \frac{2}{3} for \frac{2}{3} for example. Here is a link to WordPress’s documentation of its \LaTeX support. and here is a great \LaTeX cheat sheet link John Burk found.

If you don’t know how to use \LaTeX and don’t really want to learn but still want to write about math and science, you can find many characters you’ll need using your computer’s own character viewer. This can be found on a mac using this information.

I look forward to reading your more beautiful writing!
